Wikipedia Nap

So recently though some fashion I discovered something fairly interesting. This phenomenon I have decided to call the Wikipedia Nap (as you may have guessed from the title of this post).

Anyhow, there have been days for one reason or another where I was just damn tired and found myself in a less then optimal state of mind for work. So I hopped onto my favorite worksafe website and started my browsing. I used to read the regular encyclopedias when I was a kind anyway so it wasn't a big stretch. I found that after just browsing and letting my mind wander from topic to topic I seemed to be far more awake and able to do work.

So recently following lunch I go browse wikipedia for about half an hour. It's almost as refreshing as a 10 minute power nap. I wonder if its related to simply letting you mind go where it wants to go instead of where you want it to go that refreshes it (dreams for me at least are always virtually completely random).

So next time you feel tired at work try typing something random into wikipedia and start your travels.
