Fishies Fishies
So as an update for some of the people that randomly swing by this blog I thought I'd mention that for a few months now I've had a 55 gallon freshwater aquarium with two Tiger Oscars and a dwindling population of goldfish.
Yesterday I came home to find one of the Oscars with its mouth stuck open “breathing” fairly heavily. This Oscar is the smaller of the two and the pickier eater so I found it really weird to see that he’d tried to eat part of the plastic aquarium plants.
I think he’s still not happy with me for chasing him down, holding on to him out of water, and pulling out the “plant” parts out with a pair of pliers. He’ll come out to eat when I feed but will go back and hide behind the rocks as soon as he’s done.

I had that problem with oscars too. They tend to "taste" everything.
Dude, I haven't had fish since I was 8. We had a crazy bottom sucker named Saddam Hussein. He didn't eat plants; he ate the other fish. And lived about two years alone in the tank after he ate the last one.
Needless to say, I'm impressed with your fish nursing skills.
